Orthodontia

Laura needs a Palatal Expander. Her upper palate and teeth are very narrow, causing them to rest inside the lower teeth instead of on the outside. Up until now that hasn’t been much of a problem. But her adult teeth are obviously larger than her baby teeth were and it’s becoming painful. So, 1) she has to have her right canine pulled out. Oooh, fun times! And then 2) she has to go through some process whereby she will end up with the above thingy in her mouth.

Laura does NOT like things in her mouth. She was intubated and then had really bad reflux. So bad that she stopped eating and needed a g-tube. In all the time she’s gone to the pediatric dentist (e.g. someone who is really great in dealing with kids) they still haven’t been able to get x-rays of her teeth. She gags and then throws up. When they attempt it. Which they didn’t this past time. Because they’re smart that way.

This is going to be interesting.

The tooth pulling is next Friday on October 3rd at 11:30am. I will not be taking her back to school afterward. Poor thing!
