Four Double Ear Infections

Need I say anything more?? It’s been a not-so-fun couple of days. Thankfully, everyone is on Amoxicillan, so that should help soon. Snotty noses abound, so it’s really only a matter of time before Jim and I get it. Oh joy. I’m glad it’s a long weekend so I happen to have Jim home to help with all the fun. 😛

Last night we watched Star Wars Episode II. After how terrible Episode I was, I didn’t see II. But now, with how much people are praising III, I had to see II to make III make sense. It actually wasn’t so bad. The guy who plays Annikan tends to be melodramatic, but it was ok.

Had a cookout tonite. Things have been really tight financially for us lately–we’re making it, but only just. I can’t imagine what happens when L and E actually start eating “real” food instead of PediaSure and yogurt.

Tough Night

Last night was TOUGH! First Catie was up crying–screaming, really–and took a long time to settle down. I had hoped to get to bed early to “catch up on sleep” (as if you can ever do that!), but Laura got up crying starting at 1 am. I eventually brought her into our bed, but she kept coughing and thrashing around. Not really conducive to sleep! Around 2;30, I got her some Tylenol and put her back into her own bed. The alarm went off at 6 and I could barely wake up. I hate nights like that. It totally affects how I am the next day. I’m just praying that not only will it be a peaceful day (I’m keeping B and L home from school and going to the pediatrician), but that I will also keep my temper in check. Supposedly I have my mothers of multiples meeting tonight, but I’m having serious doubts about going. I just want to go to bed early!

May 25, 2005 B

Ok, I just read this website ( that was AWFUL. This woman had nothing good to say about the world. She is anti-children, anti-Christian, anti-parenting….pretty much everything that I am. Now, she is completely entitled to her opinion, and it was my choice to visit her website, but man! Next time I feel like wandering hither and yon in the wilds of the internet, I will choose a jolly, happy, feel-good site!

B&L are up, C is napping (thank goodness!) and E is still at school. E goes to Overbrook School for the Blind in Philadelphia 5 days a week for preschool. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Overbrook! He is learning to speak finally, getting around with his cane, and becoming more and more independent. Now I just wish he would EAT FOOD instead of yogurt. E gets tube fed at night and has a night nurse from @11-7 each night. We’ve had night nursing for almost 3 1/2 years now, so I’m very used to it, but sometimes having the house to ourselves would be REALLY nice. Each month we take a night off so the house is OURS. We lock the doors and turn out the lights and go to bed with quiet downstairs. Ahhh!

I got gas this morning for the bargain price of $1.93 for the cheapo grade. And I was excited to spend that low of an amount. How pathetic is that? I have a 15-passenger van, and spend $50 each time I fill up. Oh, wait, that was BEFORE the massive increase in gas prices. Now I can spend upwards of $65. Thankfully, I don’t drive much (see previous post for # of children!) so I only fill up about once a month.

It’s a semi-busy week this week. Jim went out last night with friends, Thursday night I have my mothers of multiples meeting, Friday we have an awards ceremony at Overbrook, Saturday I’m going to babysit members’ of our church’s kids so their parents can work on the building our church bought. I’m not a big babysitting person–my own kids are QUITE enough, thank you. But our congretation needs to vacate our current building in 5 weeks, so I thought I would donate my services and my big backyard (fenced in) to the cause. Jim, being the former-contractor, can go and work on the church.

Just thought I would interject that in there. I love chocolate. Well, let me amend. I love DARK chocolate–the darker the better. There is this stuff, Fair Trade Chocolate, called Divine, that is 71% cocoa. YUMMY! The only milk chocolate I can even tolerate is Hershey’s, and that’s probably because I grew up on it. L definitely takes after me with the chocolate thing–she won’t touch milk chocolate at all. 🙂 Lucky thing Jim likes it…whenever we get some as gifts or whatever, he can happily consume it.

What a rainy, icky, yucky day! It’s been raining fo ra few days in a row. Now, we need the rain so I’m not complaining, but the kids inside day after day DOES get on one’s nerves, namely MINE. Last night I asked Jim for 10 minutes–and only 10 minutes–to be downstairs in the basement AWAY FROM THE KIDS. He was very understanding and let me have the time. amazing how much difference a few minutes can make.

Ok, this is becoming a novel–guess I should go!

Posted in Blog, Me

Wow. My own blog! I’ve been thinking about doing this for awhile, but the actual getting around to it hasn’t been at the top of my “to do” list. Knowing how busy I am, it probably shouldn’t even be ON my to do list at all, but hey, I gotta do something for me!

Before I say anything else, I should probably tell you about myself. I’m currently 36, married to a TERRIFIC guy named Jim, and mom to 4 or 5 kids depending on how you look at it. I’ve birthed five, but am raising only four of them–three being triplets. Jim and I had quadruplets almost four years ago and our firstborn, Connor, didn’t live very long. Our other three (Bennett, Ethan and Laura) came home in stages from the NICU. We also have another child, Catie, who is 2. Thus explains why I really don’t have time to do this, but really want to!

I live on the east coast of the US, and love my home. We have a Cape Cod. Not sure what exactly it IS about Capes, but they are pretty much the only style I ever want to live it. They are just so stinkin’ cute from the outside and so compact on the inside. Jim and I have been here for five years. We had an apartment for five years before that. Sad, isn’t it, that I really don’t remember the time there? Oh well!

BLC are all watching Blues Clues right now. That, Dora, Veggie Tales and Baby Einstein are their absolute favorite things to watch. I admit, as a mom of multiples, I let them watch WAY too much TV. I never thought I would be the kind of mom that would allow them to watch TV, but that was before I had four children in 19 months!

It’s just about time for lunch for the kids and Mommy. I’m really craving CARBS but am supposed to be watching it because I’m prediabetic. Yeah, that can really take the fun out of life quickly. I’ve lost 13 lbs so far, and my endocrinologist wants me to lose 15 more by October. NOT GONNA HAPPEN! Sure, I’d love to be that thin, but since I don’t exercise (and really can’t find the time for it), I don’t think I can limit my intake that much!

Catie is over in the den for a visit. She’s trying to push the esc key. Hope that doesn’t make all this go away!
